Psychotherapy can be a daunting experience to consider. You will be investing time out of your life to take a look at a complex interplay of contexts which can include gender, race, class, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic status, cultural background, and family of origin. Your time is valuable and finding the right therapist ensures success in goals which can include happiness, pain relief (physical, mental, spiritual, emotional), self-awareness, productivity, insight, improved socialization, healthy relationships (or finding one), meaning, and even satisfaction with life.
I help clients find paths that nurture and grow parts of the self that can enhance one’s experience of life to be fulfilling and whole.
Coming from a third generation social service family I am steeped in many issues that face people today from immigration/acculturation, to anxiety and depression. Having worked with populations (Veteran, Latino, Asian American, Queer, Addiction, Children, Family, Couple) for more than 20 years I am able to understand why many highly competent and functioning people would want to go into therapy today...and also - what to do about it.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that helps people heal from symptoms and emotional distress of trauma and other disturbing life experiences. Many studies show that EMDR therapy is brief and effective. Once an emotional block is removed, the brain’s information processing system moves towards mental health and healing occurs. 6 to 12 sessions are usually needed to achieve significant outcomes where therapy is no longer necessary for the trauma.
I have trained in this therapy and have used it successfully with athletes, combat veterans, people who have witnessed traumatic events, victims of abuse, and those with addiction issues.

Art therapy is art making (within a professional relationship) for therapeutic uses. This making can facilitate the healing process of trauma, the challenges of life and even one’s personal development. By creating art and reflecting on it one’s awareness can be heightened and coping with stressors increased.
As an Art Therapist I am trained in both art and psychotherapy. I am knowledgeable about human development, psychological theories, clinical practice, spirituality, multicultural issues, artistic traditions, and the revelatory healing potential of art.
For people who are skilled at speaking, art making provides a way to bypass the narrative and gently find out together what might be really at issue. For those who are less verbal, art making provides a voice that can be expressed on the page, addressed/healed there, and then re-integrated into oneself.

Suppose you do not need all that goes with psychotherapy (a focus on healing the past and present) but more on where you wish to be next? Coaching can help you get through current blockages and move on to the next stage. With an MBA in Information Technology and Marketing I have an insight and understanding of the corporate and creative world and how to navigate it from tech to entertainment.
Sessions are typically an hour and go for a few months until the specified goals made at the outset have been met. Note, coaching is not often covered by insurance.
